Nevada Carry Concealed Handgun Permit Course

Whether you're new to owning a firearm or have had a gun for home defense for years, getting a concealed handgun permit may seem daunting. It doesn't have to be!

There are many reasons and ways to carry a concealed weapon, but the first step is knowing Nevada's concealed carry laws. 

The state of Nevada requires students to complete a live fire exercise to obtain your permit. Your instructor will provide detailed information about the live fire portion of this course upon registration.

STATE REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN PERMIT

EDUCATION

• All training must take place in the state of Nevada, online or out-of-state courses will not be accepted. The course must be 8-hours in length total (four hours for a renewal), and can be completed in two four-hour classes (no longer than 15 days apart.)
• The certificate from completed training is valid for the CCW application for one year from the date of successful completion of the course.
• The written examination attached will serve to demonstrate basic knowledge of the required subjects (written exam is not required for a permit renewal.) The test requires a minimum of 70% to pass and will be indicated on the certificate as “Pass/Fail” only.

LIVE FIRE

• A total of 30 live rounds for 6 shot or larger capacity and 25 live rounds for 5 shot capacity must be fired. Firearms with less than a 5 shot capacity will have to be reloaded at each stage to comply with the 5 shot capacity standards. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass and shall be indicated on the certificate as “Pass/Fail” only. A humanoid style target such as the B27, B21 or FBI Q shall be used.There is no time limit, and a freestyle stance and grip may be used.
• A live round has a cartridge consisting of the case, primer, propellant powder and a metallic projectile. Use of simulated ammunition, such as Simunition© or other similar training rounds are precluded from use in the firearms qualification. 
• 6 Shot Capacity Course | 3 yards - 6 rounds, 5 yards - 12 rounds, 7 yards- 12 rounds
• 5 Shot Capacity Course | 3 yards - 5 rounds, 5 yards - 10 rounds. 7 yards- 10 rounds
