This course gives you the legal knowledge and confidence you need to carry responsibly, and provides the certificate required to apply for your Maine Concealed Handgun Permit. It’s the first step toward protecting yourself and your loved ones with confidence and clarity.

This course will cover topics such as:

  • Handgun basics and shooting fundamentals
  • How to avoid conflict, and situational awareness
  • The psychology of violent encounters
  • Legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath)
  • Home Security and Home Defense
  • Gear and gadgets for effective concealed carry
  • LIVE Q&A with USCCA Certified Instructors

Maine CHPs are valid for four years - a renewal is also valid for four years.

Our classes are taught by industry-leading, certified USCCA Instructors who will provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to carry a concealed firearm safely.



STATE REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN PERMIT

EDUCATION

  • An applicant for a Maine concealed handgun permit must demonstrate knowledge of handgun safety by submitting to the issuing authority proof that the applicant has, within the previous five years, completed a course that included handgun safety (this course satisfies this state requirement).

  • Maine Resident New Applicant | $35.00
  • Maine Resident Renewal Applicant | $20.00
  • Non-Resident New Applicant | $60.00
  • Non-Resident Renewal Applicant | $60.00
  • Change of Address, Name, or Duplicate Permit Fee | $2.00
  • Renewal Applicants can mail in renewals 6 months before the expiration date.
  • If your permit has expired over 6 months ago, or you have moved without notifying the state within 30 days, you are now considered a New Applicant. Please include all documents outlined below.

  • Passport quality photograph | color, approximately 2” x 2” (new and renewal applicants)

  • A copy of a class certificate completed within the last five years (new applicants)
