Idaho Concealed Weapons License (CWL) Course

Idaho has two types of CWLs–basic and enhanced. This course provides the necessary training for the basic license only. The enhanced license requires taking an eight-hour personal protection course offered by the NRA or an equivalent course.

This course, led by USCCA-Certified Instructors, offers top-tier training through comprehensive and up-to-date firearm education and self-defense technique lessons. We believe in our inalienable right to self-defense, and as such recognize the importance of training responsible American gun owners. 

Our curriculum focuses on prioritizing safety through lessons outlining responsible gun handling, storage, and usage to prevent accidents and ensure a secure environment.

The state of Idaho requires students to complete a live fire exercise to obtain your permit. Your instructor will provide detailed information about the live fire portion of this course upon registration.

Be sure to bring any snacks or drinks for the class as well as a pen and paper to take notes.

• Completion of a firearms safety or training course (this class satisfies the education requirement)

• Demonstrate familiarity with firearms

FEES

• Initial Application | $20.00 | Please note: A sheriff may collect additional fees necessary to cover the cost of processing fingerprints and the cost of materials for the license. In some counties, this results in higher fees.
• Renewal | $15.00 | A person can renew up to 90 days before their CWL expires or within 90 days after expiration. Renewal can also be done up to 180 days following expiration, but a penalty fee is then attached for renewal. After 180 days a new application must be submitted including fingerprints.

DOCUMENTATION

• Be sure to submit your CWL application in person to your local sheriff’s department, only sheriffs can process CWLs in Idaho.
• Submit fingerprints with the completed license application.
